Did you know that when you comment on blogs or post reviews around the WWW and you use your URL (www.yourname.com) that you are creating backlinks to your own website? Google loves this, the more backlinks the more love you get and the more Google loves your website the better your search engine rankings. This is a long term, high pay off activity that can be added to your natural course of web browsing.
I always highly recommend commenting or posting reviews on various sites to my clients for purposes of promotion. Even if you are posting a review for the latest greatest socks in your wardrobe, speak up and use your URL where you can, it’s a win-win.
Always add valuable content in your posts, don’t just post to beef up your back links.
Anything you post on the internet can be found by your potential clients, customers and the media. Make sure you are not only providing great content but that you aren’t sharing anything that you wouldn’t share with the media.
If you are commenting on a blog you will most likely have the opportunity to submit the post to various social networking sites using a “share” feature, do it! This not only helps the original poster’s following but…it increases the value of your backlink in Google love.
Refer back to number 1! I never ever suggest you participate in this activity just to create more backlinks. Use these tips as a way to provide valuable and sincere content as you visit various places on the web and every body wins.

Truth is- I love to promote authors, books, and experts so this is an opportunity to let you know about a book event that I am really excited about attending tonight in the Portland area. I also wanted to give Jeff and his new book some web ink.
Author Jeff Kaliss, got my dream interview’s with music icon and genius, Sly Stone (yep, this is on my dream list!). His book, I Want to Take You Higher: The Life and Times of Sly and the Family Stone (Backbeat Books 2008) has just been released and he is on tour to promote it.
I haven’t personally met the author or read any of his work but from taking a read around his website combined with my personal admiration of this particular interview- I can’t wait to meet him, ask a ton of questions, and get a copy of the book tonight.
My hope isthat you will support authors and your local bookstore events in whatever genre appeals most to you. Not only are events inspiring, educational and a really good time, we want to keep our authors, their publishers, and our bookstores in the business of educating and entertaining us.
As for my dream of interviewing and publishing information about Sly Stone, there’s still opportunity. I think I will add a video interview with him to my dream board and in the mean time enjoy picking the brain of one who went before me!
